The Pomegranate
By Sara Farnsworth

The sun is breaking o’er the day.
Before I rise and go to play,
Upon my little throne I coo,
O’er my bit of fruit for two.
With you, I shall share my lot.
With anyone else, I’ll share it not.
It’s red and round and sweet and tart.
If you share with me, you’ll have my heart.
As rubies and garnets, its hues are cast.
We’ll eat every seed to the very last!
‘Twas a delight to share with you,
This pomegranate built for two.
